Enchantment.

PÉTROUCHKA
Music by Igor Stravinsky
Choreography after Michel Fokine
Premiered at the Paris Théâtre du Chatelet on June 13, 1911
COMPANY PREMIERE
A perfect marriage of music
and choreography, Pétrouchka was considered revolutionary
in its time; this simple, but moving story ballet is a representation
of the universal comic-tragic character. Pétrouchka, a carnival
puppet, comes alive and experiences human emotions, but those
around him do not believe he is real. He falls in love with a
ballerina doll and competes for her affections, but is unsuccessful,
and dies at the hands of a rival puppet, The Moor.
Pétrouchka is a story of unrequited love and imprisonment;
it captivates an audience and stimulates the eyes and ears.

SHADES OF LOVE
Music selections by Pat Metheny, Carlos Santana, Janet Jackson,
Brian McKnight, Tyler Bates, Dominic Frontiere and Patrick O'Hearn
Choreography by Lydia Roberts Coco
WORLD PREMIER
A torrid journey.
One lonesome woman experiences the many shades of love through an
encounter with three couples. It is then she must determine which
shade
she most longs for and which she must avoid.

TARANTELLA
Music by Louis Moreau Gottschalk, reconstructed
and orchestrated by Hershey Kay
Choreography by George Balanchine, © The George Balanchine
Trust
Premiered at the New York City Center of Music and Drama on January
7, 1964
COMPANY PREMIERE
The nimble quickness of Tarantella provides a virtuosic
showcase. The profusion of steps and the quick changes of direction
this brief but explosive pas de deux requires, typify the ways in
which Balanchine expanded the traditional vocabulary of classical
dance. Most noticeable is its speed: it never takes a breath. The
dance demands the greatest speed and stamina the human body can
muster, but doesn't allow a hint of flagging energy. It is frothy,
witty, flirtatious and even sexy.
